Grace Yoo, an attorney running for LA’s 10th District City Council seat, announced on the 19th that recent polling has shown promising results for her campaign. Yoo held a press conference at her campaign office, where she shared the findings of a survey conducted by Goodwin Simon Strategic Research from July 22 to 29, targeting 459 voters in the 10th District.
In the upcoming November election, Yoo will face off against incumbent Councilmember Heather Hutt. According to the survey report released that day, Hutt received 36% support, Yoo 34%, with 30% of respondents undecided, indicating a close race. However, after voters were presented with negative information about both candidates, a follow-up survey showed Yoo leading with 46%, compared to Hutt’s 34%, giving Yoo a 12-point advantage, her campaign reported.
When voters were first informed of the positive attributes of both candidates, the results showed a similarly close race, with Grace Yoo at 43% and Heather Hutt at 42%. However, the subsequent survey, conducted after presenting the negative aspects, revealed a significant shift in favor of Yoo. The survey analysts attributed this shift to the widespread belief among voters that the current city government’s corruption and incompetence need to be reformed.
Yoo commented, "This poll reaffirms what we've been hearing from voters all along. Voters want honest and effective leadership that prioritizes the needs of our community and brings change to City Hall." She added, "I am ready to bring that change."
Joining Yoo at the press conference were her official supporters, former California State Treasurer John Chiang and former California State Senate Democratic Leader Richard Polanco. They praised Yoo for her extensive experience in community service and her determination and capability to reform the government, urging voters to support her campaign.
