알면 삼키고 쓰면 뱉는 것은 인지상정(人之常情)이리라. 베드로도 예수 앞에서 예수를 위해서라면 목숨이라도 바친다고 호언장담했다.(마가14:31) 특히 마가복음 14장29절에서 모두 실족하더라도 자기는 그렇게 않겠다고 약속했다.(although all shall be offended, yet will not I) 그래도 예수가 잡혀가니 멀찍이 예수를 쫓아갔다고 한다.
혹시나 발견될까봐 겁을 먹은 모양이었다. 마가복음 14장27절엔 내가 목자를 치리니 양들이 흩어지리라(I will strike the shepherd and the sheep will be scattered)고 쓰여 있는데 여기서 우리는 주의 예언이 실현된 것을 알 수 있다. 어쩌면 외투까지 벗어 던지고 급한 나머지 줄행랑을 쳤을까?
마음은 원이로되 육신의 연약함의 한 장면(scene)을 보는 듯 하다. 당시에 힘께나 쓰는 사람들(대제사장/장로/서기관)이 머리를 짜서 예수를 처형시키려해도 속수무책이었다. 죄를 져서 판결하려는 것이 아니고 사형을 짜놓고 방법을 찾으니 될 리가 없다. 산헤드린(공회)에선 신성 모독죄를 덮어 씌어서 제거를 원했는데 그리 되지가 못했다. 우리는 하나님의 깊은 의도가 어디 있는가를 성찰해서 그의 뜻을 맞춰나가는데 온 힘을 다 써야된다고 생각한다.
50.And they all forsook him and I fled. 51.And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him:
52.And he left the linen cloth, and fled from naked. 53.And they led Jesus away to the high priest; and with him were assembled all the chief priests and the elder and the scribes.
54.And Peter followed him a far off, even into the palace of the high priests: and he sat with the servants, and warned himself at the fire.[Mark 14:50-54]
50.제자들이 다 예수를 버리고 도망 하니라 51.한 청년이 벗은 몸에 베 홑이불을 두르고 예수를 따라오다가 무리에게 잡히매 52.베 홑이불을 버리고 벗은 몸으로 도망 하니라 53.저희가 예수를 끌고 대제사장에게로 장로들과 서기관들이 다 모이더라 54.베드로가 예수를 멀찍이 좇아 대제사장의 집 뜰 안까지 들어가서 하속들과 함께 불을 쬐더라.[마가복음 14:50-54]

*fled=v.pt and p.p. of flee.=verb. past and past participle of

그들은 역병 때문에 그 마을을 떠났다. *베 홑이불을 버리고 벗은 몸으로 도망 하니라=He left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked. He fled naked, leaving his garment behind.=외투를 버리고 빈 몸으로 도망갔다. *linen=fabric woven from flax yarns. 베로 짠 옷. A young man, wearing nothing but(only/단지) a linen garment, was following Jesus. 베옷밖에 안 걸친 청년이 예수를 따르고 있었다.
*Peter followed him afar off=베드로가 그를 멀리서 쫓았다=Peter followed him at a distance. *하속들과 함께 불을 쬐더라=...sat with the servants and warmed himself at the fire=There be sat with guards and warmed himself at the fire. *warm: adj. 따뜻하다. v.따뜻하게 한다. 몸을 녹이다. ad; having or giving out a moderate degree of heat, as persived by the senses: a
warm bath. v. to become warm.따뜻하게 하다.
